Pre-release version of Pulsars the Ambient Vocal Mix - from the event horizon a.m album by the funkcartel. This edit is an 8 of 16 track sequence - The vocals on Pulsars were recorded on 2 microphones, an AEA R44 Ribbon Microphone and a Telefunken ELAM 251 - The Synthesiser was designed by the funky Dutchman, Rob Papen who has made 3 amazing virtual synthesisers of late, Albino 3, Predator and Blue which was used on this recording. In addition, Morphology was used for sound design which was created by Ian Boddy who runs his own record label and has also made numerous sound library's for Zero G which are sold by Time and Space as well as making his own albums which are all available at iTunes. The rest of the Instruments are native to Apple's Logic Studio which was released a few months ago. To my knowledge, the recently finished Voices album is the first album to be completed using this new technology, i could be wrong of course and if anyone has made an album with it, i'd like to know about it so please share that information if you have it. The full version of this recording will be released in 2008 on the calmer coma record label. copyright@funkcartel
This is a promo version of the Dub Mix for Proton from the Event Horizon p.m album - this is a 10 track of 16 from the sequence - the vocals and some other stuff have been left out of this mix but the full version will be loaded in the future - this is a chilled out deep house track designed for a warm up club session, nothing too heavy to give dj's something calm to start the night off, many tracks are made as anthems or end of the night dancefloor rockers - this is not one of them - this is designed for deep house and progressive house running mixes that flow slow and smooth in style and sit easy in the mix - this was made about 6 months ago now and if memory serves correct, this was the first funkcartel recording ever made back in the summer of 2007. 2008 is doing more mixes of this track as well which will soon appear on his own pages here at vox - copyright@funkcartel

Promo Version of Syrian Sirens from the Voices album by the funkcartel - this is a 4 track of 16 edit - copyright@funkcartel - deep soulful electronica in an ethnic funky trip hop style - this is the massive attack mix - the vocals were recorded with an AEA R44 Ribbon Microphone in Hollywood Film Studios. The Tape Delay effect on the vocals is not a new trick, the Beatles did it on many of their recordings at Abbey Road. The effect is similar to echo but more elaborate. The basis is this, the original dry mix vocal is layered, the copied vocal then drifts in and out of time with the original vocal track sometimes ahead, sometimes in sync and of course, sometimes falling behind. This effect also produces a lot of white noise to thicken the track and when reverb is added to the mix, the vocals become haunting and a great deal of movement, rich tones and textures results..........
A pre-release version of 'fusion' from the 'event horizon a.m' album by the 'funkcartel' - chilled out ambient style with minimal percussion, there is also an uptempo mix of this track on the Event Horizon P.M album which is a progressive house version.
